Kids Yoga Teacher Training

Join Namaste Yogis for an interactive and educational course where you will learn how to teach yoga and mindfulness to children and teens from 2 to 18 years old. This is a comprehensive 4 day program where you will have the opportunity to learn both theory and practice proven to be effective and enjoyed by educators and children in childcare centres, sessional kindergartens and schools.

This course will cover the following learning modules:

  • Understand the theory and philosophy of yoga and how it applies to children of various ages.
  • How to adapt the practice of yoga for children and teens (yoga poses, breathing practices, yoga games, partner and group poses, mindfulness and relaxation). Learn how to get creative while staying safe.
  • How to create intentional kids yoga plans and sequences for various ages that is suitable for delivery in an educational setting.
  • How to deliver an impactful and engaging yoga class. This will cover techniques for engagement, class management, versatility and stakeholder management.
  • Application of yamas and niyamas when teaching yoga to children. This will cover on a high level, child safety practices, trauma informed practices and inclusivity.
  • Learn the business of children’s yoga and be on your way to becoming the most awesome and confident children’s yoga teacher!

About your facilitator

Regina is the founder and CEO / Director of Namaste Yogis. Namaste Yogis specialises in delivering yoga and mindfulness programs to children and teens at childcare centres, sessional kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.

Since establishing Namaste Yogis in 2017, Regina has taught more than 6,000 children and teens yoga classes around Melbourne. This also includes family yoga, yoga therapy for children, disability yoga and involvement in community events such as the Werribee Children’s Week Picnic, Point Cook Pop Up Park events, Mambourin Marketplace activation and local school fetes. Regina is passionate about delivering engaging and effective yoga sessions that are enjoyed by children and sought after by educators, teachers and principals.

Regina’s mission in life is to help children treat themselves with love and kindness so that they may treat others and the world with love and kindness.

Regina is a Registered Adults and Children’s Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance (RCYT, ERYT-200) and a qualified Yoga Therapist.

This course is suitable for parents, educators, teachers, allied health professionals or anyone interested in incorporating yoga into their practice / routine and passionate about helping children with their physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

This course has been developed based on Regina’s extensive professional experience teaching yoga to children and managing a thriving children’s yoga business. Regina works closely with educators and teachers to ensure that the Namaste Yogis program continues to be aligned with industry changes while addressing current industry challenges.

Engagement, class management, safety and providing a program that aligns with the curriculum is key to a successful kids’ yoga program. It’s no longer just enough to know how to teach yoga poses, it’s about delivery and connection. And connection is not just limited to the children / students, it’s also important to connect with educators and teachers.

While this is ideal, it is not necessary. All you need is a solid personal yoga practice and a passion for working with children. This course will teach you various yoga poses and practices applicable to children, that are safe to teach in an educational setting.

Yes. This course will give you the qualification required to teach kids yoga at any settings covered in the course. This course will allow you to obtain insurance which will enable you to teach (you will also need an ABN, a working with children check and a first aid / CPR certificate). However, you will need to stay within the scope of your training when teaching.

If you are already an adults yoga teacher, the training hours from this course can go into your continuing education credits.

To become a registered children’s yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, you will need to have a minimum 200hrs of adults yoga teacher training and 95 hours of children’s yoga teacher training.

The course will be delivered face to face at Westside Yoga studio in Seddon. Sessions will be held on Fri 26th of Jun to Sun 28th of Jun. Trainees will then be given two weeks to practice what they have learnt and meet again (online) on Sat Jul 11th.

Trainees will have some pre-reading prior to course commencement and assessments throughout the sessions. There will also be plenty of opportunities to practice and receive feedback.
