What is Yoga Therapy?
Namaste Yogis’ founder Regina is a qualified Yoga Therapist and is available for personalised yoga therapy sessions for adults and teens.
Yoga therapy is a holistic and research backed approach to wellness that integrates the principles of yoga with personalised therapeutic techniques. Designed to be used in parallel with western medicine, yoga therapy uses the principles and practices of yoga philosophy to help alleviate suffering. Individuals embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing, utilising these tailored practices to enhance overall well-being.
Who is Yoga Therapy Suitable for?
Yoga therapy is suitable for those suffering from or recovering from any illnesses such as Cancer, MS, Parkinson’s, Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, Mental Health Illness and other musculoskeletal conditions. Yoga therapy can help improve a client’s quality of life (QOL) and involves working alongside other health professionals. It does not replace any other treatment or care that the client may be currently receiving.
What does a typical yoga therapy session look like?
The initial session involves trying to get to know you and your goals for yoga therapy. A personalised yoga practice that may involve yoga postures (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), mindfulness, mudras, mantras, relaxation, meditation and other strategies and approaches that can enhance your quality of life. These are designed for you to implement regularly at your own time. I will then guide you through your practice to ensure that you can repeat the practice comfortably at home. Subsequent therapy sessions will involve reviewing and adjusting your practice (if necessary).
